Academia Sinica Academician
The Convocation is made up by academicians of Academia Sinica. The title of academician in Academia Sinica is an honor with no remuneration. According to their expertise, academicians are grouped into four divisions: Mathematics and Physical Sciences (73), Engineering Sciences (67), Life Sciences (99), and Humanities and Social Sciences (63). A maximum number of ten new academicians is elected in each of the four divisions during the biennial Convocation.

Presidential Science Prize
About Presidential Science PrizeEstablished in 2001 and presented every two years. This prize symbolizes in the highest academic honor to pay respect to the most outstanding scientists in the Republic of China (ROC).To promote Taiwan’s position in the international science community, the Office of the President has established the Presidential Science Prize to recognize innovative researchers who have made monumental contributions to international research in the fields of Mathematics and Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Engineering Sciences, especially those scholars whose works have had major impact on the development and applications of these fields in Taiwan.

Foundation for the Advancement of Outstanding Scholarship
The Foundation for the Advancement of Outstanding Scholarship (FAOS) as a cultural and educational foundation in nature, aims to enhance this nation’s educational, high-tech, scientific and socio-cultural development. It is FAOS’s long-term objectives to support one hundred outstanding scholars every year, and expect that with the Foundation’s assistance, they can further develop their fullest research potential and even demonstrate academic leadership in all scientific and scholarly fields. It is FAOS’s indeed earnest hope that, as a result office Foundation’s efforts, in certain scientific and scholarly areas, Taiwan will be upgraded to the world level within five years.

For the selection and review of each session of the Science and Technology Award, the chairman of the association selects and appoints authoritative experts to form a review committee.
There are review groups for “Nano Technology”, “Information Technology”, “Optoelectronics Technology”, “Biotechnology Medicine” and “Green Technology”. In the process of “Peer’s Review System”, the shortlist is recommended to the review committee to select the final list of winners, which will be submitted to the board of directors for confirmation and announced.
