  • 2010~2019

In 2013, DAC established the International Master of Science Program for Interdisciplinary Molecular Science of Materials and Chemical Biology (SPIM), and in 2014 joined forces with the Institute of Chemistry at Academia Sinica to set up the Taiwan International Graduate Program- Sustainable Chemical Science and Technology (TIGP-SCST) PhD program, increasing the appointment a numerous new faculty members, including Jiun-Tai Chen, Hsin-Yun Hsu, Chien-Lung Wang, Chien-Ming Tseng, Paweł Urban, Teruki Sugiyama, Yen-Ku Wu, Hirotsugu HIRAMATSU, Hsueh-Ju Liu, Yang-Hsiang Chan, and Chia-Chih Chang. Chair professors conducting research and guiding research students include Koichi Narasaka, Yasuki Endo, Nobuhiro Ohta, Ilhyong Ryu, and Yoshito Tobe.

  • 2004~2009

In 2004, Chair Professor Lee, Yuan-Pern, set up a research laboratory at DAC, and in the following year, Professor Lin Sheng-Hsien joined DAC. The Department established its MA and PhD programs of Molecular Science in 2004 and 2007, respectively, and during the same period added a number of new faculty members, including Kien-Wen Sun, Chaoyuan Zhu, Ian Liau, Henryk Witek, and Shinsuke Shigeto. In 2005, Chair Professor Lee, Yuan-Pern, served as Dean of the College of Science, and in the same year, the Ministry of Education implemented its aim for the Top program, which set up a Center for Emergent Functional Matter Science at NCTU, with Chair Professor Lee, Yuan-Pern. Chair Professors Hiro-o Hamaguchi and Hiroshi Masuhara joined DAC in 2007 and 2008, respectively, and jointly established the Laser Bio Material Science Lab and Ultimate Spectroscopy and Imaging Laboratory (USIL). In 2009, the TKB Photonic Building was completed, the 5th–7th floors of which are now occupied by the Polymer, Bioanalysis, and Laser Biology Nanoscience Laboratories.

  • 1992~2003

DAC established its PhD program in 1992, and in the same year, the Science Building II was completed, including well-equipped chemistry labs, which were shared between various departments. During this period, a number of new faculty joined the Department, including Tiing Yu, Yaw-Kuen Li, Ching-Fong Shu, Tse-Lok Ho, Yn-Hwang Lin, Ching-San Wu, Yu-Chie Chen, Wei-Guang Diau, Chi-Shen Lee, and Ming-Chang Lin.

  • 1988~1991

During this period, the Department’s laboratories were located in the Xinsheng Building (now HA Building II), and a number of new faculty were appointed, including Chain-Shu Hsu, Teng-Ming Chen, You-Zung Hsieh, Niann-Shiah Wang, Jenn-Shing Chen, and Wen-Sheng Chung. In 1990, DAC established its undergraduate program with Professor Zuo-Min Zhuang as its first chairman, and began enrolling students. Since then, all the affiliated institutes have been charged by the chairman.
